Since 2006, Balance has offered a clean, quiet oasis where students can practice finding their center and connecting to their core.
Our classes at Balance range from private to group, and our focus is on individualized attention so we always limit their size. Daily from the end of June through Labor Day, the idyllic Cove Beach provides a stunning backdrop for yoga – the ultimate way to start every morning. Throughout the year we offer both local and international retreats, events, and workshops – including our popular yoga teacher training series.
Our massage therapists are trained in all modalities such as Relaxing Swedish, Therapeutic, and Thai Yoga Massage to help relieve tension from your body, instilling an overall sense of wellness.
At Balance, we are committed to serving our students by helping them to restore their optimal equilibrium of mind, body and spirit – creating a happier and healthier community in Cape May and beyond. We do this by providing a clean, safe, healing environment in which our students can practice and learn from knowledgeable, caring instructors. We welcome you to join us on this journey.
Meet the Team
Owner, Pilates & Yoga Instructor
Moving fluidly, without pain is a birthright that the stress of daily life can hinder. A solid, committed practice of Pilates & Yoga is a gift to bring back confidence, grace, peace and strength to bodies and minds. Master Pilates & Yoga Instructor, Judy Heany, guides students through classes and trainings to harness their inner strength, in a safe, effective and fun way.
Judy has sought, over the last two decades, the highest levels of training from the most reputable teachers possible. A Philadelphia native, Judy originally studied with “Best of Philly” alums David Newman from Yoga on Main and Janine Galati at Alternative Health and Fitness in 2000-2001 before heading to the Caribbean for four years. During her time in the islands, Judy was the resident instructor for Pilates and Yoga at both The Self Centre at Caneel Bay in St. John and the Ritz Carlton in St. Thomas.
Since her return to the US in 2005, Judy completed Comprehensive Pilates training with Carol Beringer at Pilates & More in Wayne, PA and deepened her Pilates knowledge about adaptations and modifications for scoliosis and osteoporosis from Master Instructors, Michele Larsson and Karena Teck Lineback, and Rebekah Rotstein. She is also one of the only Pilates Method Alliance Certified Instructors in South Jersey. In 2014, Judy became faculty of the Balanced Body Pilates Instructor Training Program.
Judy advanced her Yoga training as well since her return to the states. Currently, she is a Master Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga Instructor in-training with Sadie Nardini. She’s had the opportunity to study at intensives with Judith Hanson Lasater, Shiva Rea, Doug Swenson, Simon Park, and Dharma Mittra. She is one of the only Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200 Instructors in the area allowing Judy to offer a 200 Hour RYT Yoga Teacher Training Program at her home studio in Cape May @ Balance and now at Pilates Core Center
Mid-April, Judy graduates from the Barberio School of Massage in Linwood and will begin offering Relaxing, Therapeutic and Thai Yoga Massage at Balance this season. She has completed over 100 hours of training in Thai massage with teachers Michael Buck and Rose Griscom previously to this comprehensive training.
Judy celebrates Balance Studio’s 12th season of practice and teaching in Cape May this year. She continues to provide the safest and most effective training in Pilates & Yoga for the community. Her vision for Balance is to hold space for students near and far to experience true and deep transformation and empowerment from the inside out.
PMA Certified Pilates Instructor
Marggi is the owner of Bodies in Balance in Madison, NJ and has been practicing Pilates since 1978. After a 20-year career in the music industry, injury and stress led her to the full-time study of Pilates. This studyled to the comprehensive training program at Power Pilates, which she completed in 1999. She received her Pilates Method Alliance certification in 2007 and formerly served on its Board of Directors. The desire to continually improve her knowledge and teaching abilities has been augmented by studies with Deborah Lessen, Michele Larsson, Pat Guyton, Phoebe Higgins, Blossom Crawford (pictured here) and the anatomist, Irene Dowd.

Mary received her RYT-200 hour certification through Shambhava Yoga in Colorado. Trained in Hatha yoga, her teaching style is gentle yet strong, focusing on relaxing the nervous system through breathwork while physically engaging and challenging the entire body (and mind!).
