Vinyasa Yoga

A blend of styles, Vinyasa has emerged from its roots in Ashtanga and Power Yoga to become one of the most popular forms of yoga practiced in the US today. The class flows from pose to pose integrating breath with movement leading students deeper into their moving meditation practice. Different options are offered to accommodate varied levels of students' abilities. This is a physically challenging class best for those with some prior yoga experience.

Return to the floor for leg stretches, gentle backbends, hip openers, and twists & guided meditation. Appropriate for all students. Great class to begin your yoga practice.

Intermediate/Advanced Pilates

For students with an established, strong practice and no limitations. We explore the challenging intermediate and advanced Pilates exercises integrating a variety of small apparatus and props with our practice including Sticks, Chair, Arc, foam rollers, balls, bands, and/or weights. Students should be able to perform matwork 'Roll Up' and 'Teaser' prior to entering class.

Beginner/Intermediate Pilates

For new students, those with physical limitations or a sporadic practice. We review the fundamental Pilates exercises focused strengthening the whole body using precise, controled movements that result in a uniformly developed body having long, lean muscles. With consistent training, students find their joint pain decreased, their stamina increased and their bodies becoming stronger and more streamlined. We will integrate a variety of small apparatus and props with our practice including Sticks, Chair, Arc, foam rollers, balls, bands, and/or weights.

Cario Pilates (w/Reformer)  - The Pilates Reformer provides finely tuned exercise resistance that allows one to work very precisely to develop good alignment, core strength, and flexibility. The reformer offers all the famous benefits of Pilates including overall strength, coordination and balance. These in turn lead to better posture, graceful, efficient movement, and for many, relief from pain associated with physical imbalances such as back pain.  Flat abs, strong backs, toned buttock and thighs are all results of consistent Pilates Reformer practice as well. One private session with Balance staff is required prior to acceptance into Reformer Classes.

These classes are no longer offered, but we are integrating the equipment into weekly Pilates Classes. The following information is for those unfamiliar with MVe Chair, Pilatesstick, and Pilates Arc:

Pilates Chair - The latest in Pilates Equipment, the MVe Chair, offers a challenging workout for students. Pilatesstick - Experience Pilates "without limits" with the Pilatesstick, a completely portable version of the traditional Tower. During our classes Matwork is infused with challenging spring resistance.
