Judy Heany
Instructor/Owner
Judy first discovered yoga with Raquel Welch via her video from 1984 Total Beauty and Fitness. After many years of dance, the challenging mind/body exercises felt very similar to the ballet barre work she loved. After completing her studies at Penn State in 1995, Judy moved to Berkeley where she took her first Pilates class and became an instant enthusiast. Pilates and Yoga have both proven to help avoid the common aches and pains associated with scoliosis (curvature of the spine) and years of ballet and step aerobics.
A Philadelphia native, Judy studied with the “Best of Philly” at Yoga on Main with David Newman (Durga Das) in 2000 and Janine Galati at Alternative Health and Fitness in 2001. She then followed her heart to the Virgin Islands to be with her now-husband, Mark.
During their four years in the Caribbean, Judy was the resident Pilates and Yoga instructor to visitors at the Self Centre at Caneel Bay on St. John and the Ritz Carlton St. Thomas. She also has had the privilege to study yoga with Erich Schiffman, Shiva Rea, Rainbeau Mars, Doug Swenson, and Simon Park amongst others. Since her return to the US in 2005, Judy completed 600 hours of Pilates training with Carol Beringer at Pilates & More in Wayne, PA. She then opened Balance Pilates & Yoga Studio in Cape May, NJ on the Washington Street Mall. In March 2008, the studio moved to its current location at 600 Park Blvd in West Cape May.
Her vision for the studio is to help transform students’ images of themselves and their bodies and to offer the community a space for celebrations and learning.
Arlene Vogt
Yoga Instructor
Arlene Vogt began practicing yoga in 2000. In 2001, she was introduced to Sivananda yoga. Having found the style that she is passionate about, she quickly developed a daily practice.
When she realized that she wanted to share her love of yoga with others, she began teacher training. She achieved her first certification in 2006 and received her 500-hour teacher certification, from YogaLife Institute in Wayne, PA. She is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT.
Arlene looks forward to sharing her knowledge with her students, and continues to encourage them to challenge themselves without forcing. And, always has them focus on the positive; yoga is about what you can do.
Recognizing that there is always something new to learn, she continues to practice and study yoga on a daily basis, and has been fortunate to attend trainings and workshops lead by nationally and internationally renowned teachers Nischala Joy Devi, Edward Clark, and Simon Park.
